Frequently Asked Questions

  • If you are currently shaving or using a depilatory cream such as NAIR, you will need to let the hair grow 3-4 weeks minimum for your first wax. Waxing works by soaking in and wrapping around the hair and using that leverage to pull the hair out by the root. If your hair is too short, your wax may be more painful or we may not be able to get up all the hair during your service.

  • No need to trim! Actually the longer and more grown out your hair is, the better. If you trim prior to your appointment, you may be cutting the the hair too short, making it more difficult and more painful to wax. If your wax specialist feels like trimming is necessary for a wax strip, we will do so during your service.

  • Although we recommend waxing every 4-6 weeks as a lifestyle, we understand some choose to only wax for special occasions such as a vacation or a wedding. We recommend at least 2-3 waxes prior to your special occasion. The first wax will always create the most trauma to the skin. Water activities, sex, and swimsuits can be especially irritating after the first wax. Since our hair grows in cycles, it will also takes 2-3 waxes to sync up those hair cycles to get you the absolute smoothest results that last the longest.

  • We currently do not offer male Brazilians. Neither of our estheticians is trained in the service but we can provide you with a list of local waxers that offer this service.

  • Absolutely! Waxing is considered completely safe from the time you find out to right before birth. Of course, we recommend all our clients to always defer to their doctor’s recommendations. We also recommend you ask your OB if you are able to take OTC Tylenol 30-45 minutes before your appointment. This can help with any additional pain or sensitivity due to the pregnancy hormones. In the later weeks of pregnancy, we also incline the bed to have you avoid laying flat on your back and we use modified butterfly positions to help with back and hip pain.

  • Absolutely! We wax clients on their menstrual cycle daily. We simply ask that you wear a tampon, menstrual cup, or menstrual disc while you are waxing. This isn’t because we are grossed out by period blood, it’s to keep the vulva skin clean and dry to get you the best wax results. We also provide feminine wipes and fresh tampons in the suite if you need one! Some clients experience more sensitivity to pain and heat during the cycle especially at the beginning so we advise to take an OTC Tylenol or Ibuprofen (if you have no contraindications) 30-45 minutes prior to your appointment.

  • You must be an established client to receive a vajacial or body skin care treatment from us. Vajacials and skin care treatments are only as effective as your consistency with waxing and your home care routine. We ask that you book a wax with us first, have us analyze your skin, and recommend a home care product routine. This will adequately prepare your skin for stronger active ingredients we use in our actual skin care treatments to get you the best results possible!

  • The calming mask is our most popular add on service. These masks are a blend of hydrating and calming ingredients to help soothe and calm any redness, tenderness, or irritation post wax. It helps clients from feeling tender and red all day to leaving their appointment feeling like they didn’t even have a wax done! We apply these masks post wax and let them sit on the skin for 5-10 minutes before removing.

  • For body waxing, you want to avoid anything that causes friction, irritation, or could get bacteria into the freshly waxed skin. We recommend no sex, exercise, tight clothes, excessive sweating, beach, pool, hot tub, sauna, fragranced washes or lotions, and no excessive heat for 24-48 hours post wax. You should also avoid touching the area with bare hands.

For facial waxing, you still want to avoid exercise, excessive sweating, touching your face with bare hands, using unclean phone or sunglasses (you can wipe down these items with disinfectant), and to avoid sun exposure without SPF.

  • The most important thing you can do is to make sure you grow out your hair 3+ weeks after your last shave/trim, or NAIR. If the hair is longer, please don’t trim it. Some clients choose to shower before coming in but we also provide feminine wipes in case you need to freshen up when you arrive. Make sure to wear loose, cotton underwear and clothing to your appointment. And lastly, we encourage all new clients to come in 5 minutes early so you can get checked in, use the restroom, and get settled before your appointment starts.
